Sourcing and Extraction:
We have had a relationship with our distributor for many years, and not only know exactly where they grow, but ensure the purity and potency with 3rd party labs. We are involved in every step of the process and proud to take the extra effort to ensure the quality so you don’t have to. The Chinese government actually regulates Duanwood reishi, as it is forbidden to use chemicals or pesticides in the growing process, so you can be assured that you are also getting a one hundred percent organic product.
This is a hot water extract. To briefly describe the process, the raw herbs are placed in hot water until the medicinal constituents are voice of the raw herb body (which all have parts we cannot digest) and then through a spray drying process, it is formed into a fine powder, which can be directly added into any food or beverage of choice.
This achieves a couple things:
- No need to prepare or heat- the powdered extracts are food and drink ready
- Since they are extracts, they are a lot more easily digested and bioavailable by the body
- We are able to achieve high concentrations of the herb by using a certain amount of pounds of the raw herb and condensing all the medicinal constituents into one pound. For example, our he shou wu is a 16:1 concentration, which means 16 lbs of the raw herb created 1 pound of our extract, making it 16x more potent than a single extraction concoction.
Practitioner Perspective, (How it works):
Reishi’s primary functions are to restore the bodies daily energy (Qi) in multiple organs. This enables restful sleep, improves breathing, circulation of blood, robust immunity, toxin elimination and improves digestion. According to Chinese five elemental theory, the organ of the heart corresponds with the fire element which is considered the mother of earth in the elemental cycle. This earth element corresponds with the spleen/stomach. In five elemental theory, when the mother(heart, fire) is nourished, the son(spleen/stomach, earth) flourishes. Thus, we can observe just one mechanism of how Reishi restores the digestive function. In a similar vein, Reishi nourishes the lung or the metal element, which in turn nourishes the water or kidney element associated with jing, the deepest energy reservoir within the human body. Lastly, the wood or liver element is directly nourished by Reishi which, as the mother of fire (heart) only further supports the heart.
