Product Description

This organically grown dong ding oolong was processed in the traditional “old school” Taiwanese style which mostly been abandoned in modern tea processing because it requires so much more time, energy, and skill to produce. As a result the energy and personality of this is really soft, inviting, and approachable while allowing you to get a glimpse as to why Taiwanese tea because so famous in the first place.

I highly recommend this tea to any and all oolong lovers as it provides a deep education and context for what really good tea actually is.

Why drink oolong?

Oolong tea is known for a large variety of health benefits. One of the most prominent benefits is increasing the body’s ability to burn calories. Oolong is an exotic tea uniquely and masterfully fermented to achieve perfection in delivery of super nutrients. It is an excellent alternative to coffee and won’t deliver the jitters or acidity of coffee.
Weight Loss:
Oolong tea has been proven to increase metabolism when test subjects consumed a full-strength brew of oolong, in comparison to water (1).
A study was conducted on overweight and obese individuals who drank oolong tea and resulted in 70% of the severely obese individuals showing a decrease of more than 1 kg in body weight, including 22% who lost more than 3 kg. Additionally, 64% of the obese subjects and 66% of the overweight subjects lost more than 1 kg during the experiment, and body fat content decreased in 12% of the subjects (2).
Energy Metabolism:
One study conducted on Japanese woman proved in comparison to green tea, oolong tea contained approximately half the caffeine and double the polyphenols. These results suggest that oolong tea increases energy expenditure due to its high content of polyphenols (3).
Another study confirmed that Oolong also had a positive effect on energy expenditure in men as well (5).
Cardiovascular Protection:
Oolong tea is shown to reduce overall cholesterol and LDL, as well as improve plasma adiponectin levels before and after 1 month intake of Oolong tea in people with Coronary Heart Disease. This, in turn influences bio factors related to reducing the progression of Atherosclerosis overall proving as a reasonable cardiovascular disease preventative and protective substance (4).
